Christopher Jeannot, a standout defensive lineman for the Wildcats who graduated from University of New Hampshire in 2011 has passed away. Chris left us far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of grit on the field, excellence in the classroom, and a kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Chris arrived at UNH from Lawrence, Massachusetts, and quickly became a force on the defensive line. Playing from 2007 to 2010, he was part of teams that won back-to-back CAA championships and made deep playoff runs. Teammates remember him as the quiet leader who brought energy every practice, celebrated every teammate’s success, and never let anyone walk off the field without a pat on the back.
Off the field, Chris was just as impressive. He earned his degree in kinesiology while balancing a demanding football schedule, graduating in 2011 with the respect of professors and coaches alike. His work ethic and positive attitude made him a favorite in the training room and the weight room, where he often stayed late to help younger players.
After UNH, Chris carried that same dedication into his professional life and into coaching youth football in the Seacoast area. Former teammates say he never missed a chance to show up at alumni events, always with that big smile and a story that made everyone laugh until their sides hurt.
Family and friends were Chris’s foundation. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend who made time for everyone. Whether it was organizing pickup games, checking in on an old teammate, or simply being there when someone needed him, Chris lived with an open heart and a quiet strength that lifted those around him.
The Wildcat family has lost one of its own. Christopher Jeannot’s number may never be on the jersey again, but his spirit will always run out of that tunnel at Wildcat Stadium. Funeral arrangements will be shared by the family in the coming days. Until then, Durham holds his loved ones close and keeps the light on for number 99. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.
