Trey Lunsford, a loving husband and father, was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, leaving Gulfport in ruins. Around 6:45 p.m., Trey’s pickup vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree on Highway 49 close to Landon Road.
When Mississippi Highway Patrol officers arrived, they discovered that the car was severely damaged. Trey was declared dead at the site despite Gulfport Fire and AMR paramedics’ quick reaction.
The precise cause is still being investigated, according to investigators, although speed and potential road conditions are being looked at. The findings of toxicology are still awaited. The route was stopped for many hours while the area was being investigated; no other cars were involved.
Growing up in Gulfport, Trey’s easygoing charm and intense loyalty were formed by the salt air and Friday night lights. He put forth a lot of effort in the marine sector, taking pride in each shift that supported his family. After work, he would either barbecue in the backyard while Nyra and his young son danced to country music on the radio, go fishing offshore with friends, or coach his son’s little baseball team.
Together, he and Nyra created a lovely existence that was evident to others. Trey was the buddy who brought a trailer when you needed to move, the parent who never missed a T-ball game, and the spouse who continued to open her door. His heart was larger than the Gulf itself, and he laughed loudly and gave firm embraces.
Nyra and their small kid now have to deal with life without the guy who was everything to them. The regular events, the Christmas stockings, and the abrupt emptiness at the Thanksgiving table are unfathomable. In order to assist with costs and provide some security for their little son, Gulfport has embraced them with meals, babysitting, and a GoFundMe that is expanding hourly.
Too soon, Gulfport lost one of its own. Trey Lunsford left behind a family and a community that will never be the same, lived from the heart, and loved without boundaries. The family will reveal funeral plans. Until then, the Coast carries Trey’s light forward one day at a time by keeping Nyra, their kid, and everyone who loved him near.
