On November 29, 2025, the city of Central Falls, Rhode Island, was shaken by a late-night double shooting that claimed the life of 23-year-old Nayasia Buckss. Police responded to the 100 block of Washington Street just before 11 p.m. after multiple calls reported gunfire in the residential neighborhood.
Officers found Nayasia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate efforts by Central Falls Police and paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene. A 24-year-old man was also shot and transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with life-threatening injuries. He remained in critical condition as of Sunday morning.
Central Falls Police have opened a homicide investigation. No arrests have been made, and detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses. Nayasia grew up in Central Falls and was a 2020 graduate of Central Falls High School. Known for her bright smile, warm laughter, and deep loyalty, she was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Nayasia stayed close to home, working locally and filling her life with love for her family and community. Whether organizing family gatherings, checking on neighbors, or simply sharing a kind word, she had a special way of making everyone feel valued and seen.
Her sudden and tragic death has left her family, friends, and the entire community heartbroken. Central Falls has lost one of its own far too soon—a young woman who lived with an open heart and loved without limits.
Funeral arrangements will be shared by Nayasia’s family in the coming days. For now, the community holds her loved ones close, praying for healing and for justice in her memory.
