His unexpected departure on December 4, 2025, at age 62, has left the Mint Hill community in collective grief.
Pete’s passion for flowers and dedication to his craft made him a beloved figure in the Mint Hill and Charlotte community. After apprenticing under local growers, he opened Villa’s Blooms in 1995, specializing in seasonal designs that graced weddings and festivals. His creativity, warm personality, and commitment to customers earned him a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born and raised in nearby Charlotte, Pete attended Central Piedmont Community College, earning a certificate in horticulture that fueled his lifelong love for botany. He volunteered with the Mint Hill Garden Club, teaching workshops on sustainable arranging to young enthusiasts. His professional journey blended artistry with community service, transforming ordinary spaces into vibrant celebrations.
In his family life, Pete was a devoted husband to Maria for 35 years and a proud father to two daughters, often involving them in sourcing wildflowers from nearby Uwharrie National Forest. Weekends meant family picnics amid his home greenhouse, where he shared stories of his immigrant grandparents’ rose gardens. His role as the family’s gentle storyteller strengthened bonds through shared traditions of gratitude and growth.
Pete’s lifestyle reflected a harmonious blend of nature and neighborhood, including early-morning walks along the greenway trails and annual pilgrimages to the Carolina Raptor Center. A celebration of Pete’s life will be held December 12 at Mint Hill United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10 a.m. Donations are requested to the Mint Hill Beautification Committee, perpetuating his legacy of spreading joy one bloom at a time.
