Reports indicate the Explorer, operated by 21-year-old Samatha K. Guy of Daphne, first struck a tree in the roadway before the impact. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene, while Guy was transported to Andalusia Health for treatment, with the incident remaining under investigation.
Born on September 28, 1990, in Brewton, Alabama, Monica grew up in the local area, attending W.S. Neal High School. She built her life across East Brewton and Evergreen, embracing her Christian faith and pursuing work that reflected her creative touch. As a skilled cake decorator at IGA in Opp, Alabama, she brought sweetness and artistry to everyday celebrations in her community.
Monica is survived by her significant other, Gary Parker of Evergreen; her sons Caleb, Cody, and Chase Parker, all of Evergreen; parents David (Sandy) Phillips and Judy (Jeff) Boles, both of East Brewton; brothers Brandon (Britney) Butts of Valley, Nathaniel Hutchinson and Justin Jackson of East Brewton; and sister Jessica Jackson of East Brewton. She also leaves nephew Hayden Shipp and niece Rebecca Ramos of East Brewton. She was preceded in death by grandparents James Phillips and Rojean Hammac, sister Amber Phillips, and brother Kyler Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, located at 2353 South Boulevard in Brewton. A funeral service follows at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Justin Morse, with burial afterward at Sellersville Cemetery in Jay, Florida.
