It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Jeanne Lang, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Ms. Lang, 67, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at The University of Chicago Medicine Hospital.
Mary was born on December 13, 1958, in Peoria, Illinois, to Frank and Jeanne (Waninger) Lang. A proud graduate of Bergan High School with the Class of 1976, she lived a life filled with curiosity, warmth, and a deep love for experiencing the world.
She possessed an adventurous spirit and a special appreciation for culture, finding great happiness in the theatre and the arts. Her passion for exploration was most evident in the memorable trips she shared with her sister, creating treasured memories on numerous cruises and during journeys to destinations like Italy, London, and Greece. At home, she shared a particularly close bond with her beloved four-legged companion, Arlo, who was a constant source of comfort and joy.
Mary is survived by her loving mother, Jeanne Lang of Peoria Heights; her sister, Amy Lang of Chicago; her niece, Amanda Carmichael of Denver, Colorado; and her cherished companion, Arlo. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank, and her two brothers, Eric and Dave Lang.
A visitation to honor Mary’s life will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM. An additional visitation will take place 30 minutes prior to the service. Father Leopold Mushobozi will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria.
