Patrick, who was born on August 10, 1982, was raised in Springfield and had a solid education at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School and Little Flower School. His early academic success led him to Purdue University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He then went on to the University of Illinois Springfield to get a Master of Science in Computer Science.
In 2010, Patrick relocated to Winter Park, Colorado, beginning his professional chapter as a systems analyst and developer. His skills and leadership quickly earned recognition, resulting in a promotion to the Denver headquarters of Alterra Mountain Company—formerly Intrawest—in 2015. As a lead software architect, he crafted a lively and respected legacy, contributing meaningfully to the company’s technological advancements while fostering collaborative environments that reflected his approachable and insightful nature.
Patrick’s passions extended far beyond the office, rooted deeply in his enthusiasm for sports and the natural world. A devoted Colorado Rockies season ticket holder for the past decade, he also joined the vibrant community of Denver Chicago Bears fans, celebrating victories and enduring seasons with unwavering loyalty. His love for the outdoors defined much of his lifestyle, from youthful days boating and wakeboarding on Lake Springfield to exhilarating hikes, camping trips, and snowboarding adventures across the Rocky Mountains and international destinations.
Family formed the heartfelt core of Patrick’s world, with his parents and sisters providing unwavering support throughout his life’s transitions and triumphs. The intimate moment of his passing, enveloped in their presence alongside dear friends, underscored the deep bonds he nurtured with authenticity and care. Though his time in Colorado brought new horizons, his Illinois origins remained a source of grounding, connecting him to cherished memories and lifelong relationships.
The legacy of Patrick Francis Scott is a monument to a life well lived via scholarship, career success, and an inexhaustible need for connection and adventure. His contributions to technology and his enthusiastic love of sports and the outdoors will go on. On January 13, 2026, a funeral Mass and viewing celebrating his memory will take place at Springfield’s Little Flower Church. Reverend Al Kemme will preside the Mass at 11:00 a.m. and the reception from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m.
