James Earl Calvert, 57, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Taos, New Mexico. His passing leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and dedication to family and community.
He was born and raised in Tulsa, James attended local elementary and middle schools before completing his high school education in Fayetteville, North Carolina, while living with his sister Marietta. Those formative years shaped his resilience and sense of responsibility, qualities that would guide him throughout his life.
After graduation, James answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He was a dedicated Marine, serving with honor and distinction until his honorable discharge. His military service instilled in him discipline, loyalty, and a lifelong commitment to protecting and uplifting others.
Following his time in the service, James pursued a varied career path. He worked for small publications, contributed to Roadrunner Sports, and later found fulfillment in retailing audio electronics and speakers. His professional journey reflected his versatility and curiosity, as well as his ability to connect with people across different industries.
Perhaps most meaningful was his appointment by a judge as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), where he represented the best interests of abused children in the court system. This role exemplified James’s compassion and his desire to make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable. His advocacy work left a lasting impact, ensuring that children had a voice and someone to stand firmly on their behalf.
