On November 29, 2025, Phoenix, Arizona, lost a radiant and beloved young woman with the tragic passing of Abigail Guadalupe Ojeda. She was 29 years old. Abigail died in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande, leaving a profound emptiness in the lives of her family, friends, and the many children she lovingly taught.
Born in Tucson and raised in Phoenix’s Maryvale neighborhood, Abigail was voted “Most Likely to Brighten Your Day” by her senior class at Trevor G. Browne High School. She earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education from Phoenix College and spent seven joyful years as a preschool teacher at Little Explorers Academy.
Abigail was a devoted mother to her four-year-old son, Mateo, and shared a loving home with her longtime partner, Javier Morales. They were planning a spring wedding filled with sunflowers and family. In her free time, she was an accomplished baker who shared her custom conchas and tres leches cakes with local cafés and often donated desserts to church fundraisers and children’s hospital events.
A passionate dancer, she performed with the folklorico group Danza Azteca de Phoenix for over a decade, proudly showcasing her Mexican heritage through vibrant, flowing skirts and lively music. Abigail also volunteered regularly at the St. Vincent de Paul food bank, organizing food drives that served countless families in need.
Those who knew her remember her encouraging voice notes, her love of sunset drives through South Mountain Park, and her ability to turn any gathering into a celebration with music, laughter, and homemade salsa. Her smile was genuine and her kindness was felt by everyone she met.
Abigail is survived by her son Mateo, partner Javier, parents Maria and José Ojeda, three younger siblings, and the many children who lovingly called her “Miss Abby.”
A public funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2025, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Phoenix, followed by a celebration of her life filled with folklorico performances and the vibrant marigold petals she so loved.
Abigail’s light, love, and legacy will forever brighten the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
