Allan Russell Death – New Jersey Father Kills Self, Estranged Partner and In‑Laws in Bayville Home

A quiet Bayville neighborhood in Berkeley Township, New Jersey was shattered early Tuesday morning when a deadly shooting rampage left four people dead inside a home on Fairwood Drive. Police responded around 5 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. When officers arrived, they witnessed a man entering the residence, followed by additional gunshots from inside.

The Ocean County Regional SWAT Team made entry into the home shortly afterward. Inside, officers discovered 61‑year‑old Allan Russell and his wife 60‑year‑old Michelle Russell deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. As they continued clearing the residence, they found 37‑year‑old Vaughn Stewart dead from a self‑inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators later confirmed that Stewart was responsible for the killings.

Authorities revealed that Stewart had targeted his estranged partner and her parents during the attack. According to investigators, Stewart first shot and killed the Russells before turning the gun on Deonna Stewart, the mother of his three children. He then fatally shot himself inside the home. The violent sequence unfolded rapidly, leaving no opportunity for intervention before the SWAT Team arrived.

Three minor children were found inside the residence during the search. Miraculously, all were unharmed. Officials confirmed that the children belonged to Vaughn and Deonna Stewart and were present during the shootings. They were immediately removed from the home and placed under the care of relatives as the investigation continued.

Detectives spent hours processing the scene, gathering ballistic evidence, and interviewing neighbors who reported hearing multiple gunshots in the early morning darkness. The home, located in a typically quiet residential section of Bayville, became the center of a large‑scale investigation as authorities worked to reconstruct the timeline of events and determine Stewart’s movements leading up to the killings.

The tragedy has left the community stunned, with residents expressing grief and disbelief that such violence occurred in their neighborhood. Local officials have emphasized the devastating impact on the surviving children and the extended families of the victims. As the investigation concludes, Berkeley Township continues to mourn the loss of Allan and Michelle Russell, Deonna Stewart, and the profound trauma left behind.
