The community of Atwood, Indiana, is mourning the tragic loss of Beech Howard, who passed away on January 3, 2026. At the age of 80, Beech departed this life at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, leaving behind a heartfelt legacy of hard work, family devotion, and simple joys that endeared him to those in his rural community.
Born on May 18, 1945, in Jackson, Kentucky, to Harris and Pearlie (Miller) Howard, Beech grew up in the rolling hills of Appalachia, where early experiences shaped his resilient character and appreciation for straightforward living. He completed his high school education in Jackson, building a foundation that carried him through life’s demands with practicality and perseverance.
Beech built a steady career in manufacturing, serving as a supervisor at Gulf Stream RV Manufacturing, where his leadership and commitment contributed to the industry’s growth in the region. His role demanded reliability and skill, qualities he brought to work each day, earning respect from colleagues who valued his no-nonsense approach and ability to guide teams effectively.
Family formed the cornerstone of Beech’s world, with his children and extended kin receiving the full measure of his affection and support. He is survived by his sons, Lance Howard and Dewayne Howard; his daughter, Grace Osborne; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom benefited from his steady guidance and warm encouragement.
Beech embraced hobbies that brought rhythm and adventure to his days, from skillfully playing the bass guitar to the thrill of riding motorcycles through open roads. He found relaxation in watching classic westerns, attending live music events, and immersing himself in the sounds and stories that resonated with his spirit.
Services to honor him include a visitation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., both at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home in Bourbon, Indiana, officiated by Pastor Kristin Harp.
