Christine was born to Eugene and Mary Jane (Humbles) Lowder in adjacent Fortville on May 16, 1953, and grew up in the villages of central Indiana. After graduating from Knightstown High School in 1971, she continued the small-town communal spirit and practical kindness. She married Harvey R. Robbins in Knightstown on August 21, 1970, starting a union that lasted more than 55 years and was based on respect for one another, common goals, and the kindness that makes a house seem like a home.
As president of CHD, Inc., the trucking company she and Harvey owned and operated from 1986 to 2012, Christine brought a capable, steady hand to the business world. She balanced leadership with grace, managing challenges with the same thoughtful care she applied to her personal life. Her love for flowers, especially the intricate beauty of orchids, revealed a nurturing side—patiently tending to delicate blooms that mirrored her own gentle appreciation for life’s subtler joys.
