On a quiet Saturday afternoon in a Florida vacation neighborhood, three friends enjoying a getaway were killed in a random and unprovoked attack outside their rental home. On January 17, 2026, at approximately 12:14 p.m., the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call at 296 Indian Point Circle in the Indian Point Subdivision of Kissimmee, a residential area just miles from the Disney World resort area.
The victims were identified as three close friends visiting from the Midwest: Robert Lewis Kraft, 70, of Holland, Michigan; Douglas Joseph Kraft, 68, of Columbus, Ohio; and James John Puchan, 69, of Columbus, Ohio.
The men, described as beloved family members, were in town to attend the Mecum Car Show in Kissimmee. Their trip home was delayed due to rental car trouble, and they were waiting for assistance in front of their short-term rental when the attack occurred.
According to Osceola County Sheriff Christopher Blackmon, the shooting was entirely random and unprovoked. “There was no conflict between these people. It just happened to be the person who lived next door,” the sheriff stated during a news conference. The suspect, 29-year-old Ahmad Jihad Bojeh, lived in the house next door to the rental property.
Deputies arriving at the scene found the three men lying in front of the residence, all suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. Authorities say Bojeh was quickly located after the shooting as he ran back into his own home, where he was taken into custody. Investigators recovered two weapons from inside Bojeh’s residence, though work remains to determine which was used in the shooting.
Sheriff Blackmon revealed that Bojeh was “a known person—a frequent flyer” to law enforcement and “a threat to that neighborhood all the time”. Court records show that in 2021, Bojeh was arrested for shooting at people and random cars in a Kissimmee gas station parking lot. He was later acquitted by reason of insanity and ordered to outpatient treatment. This prior case has since sparked a political dispute over the handling of his earlier insanity defense.
Bojeh was booked into the Osceola County Jail and is being held without bond, facing three counts of first-degree murder. In a joint statement, the families of the victims confirmed the deaths, describing the men as beloved husbands, fathers, and grandfathers, and the act as a “senselessly murdered… random, tragic act”. They expressed gratitude for the quick law enforcement response but asked for privacy as they mourn an “unimaginable loss”.
