Born on February 12, 1934, in Peoria to Frank and Elizabeth (Hermann) Roth, she grew up rooted in the central Illinois community, shaping a life of nurturing compassion, faithful devotion, and joyful hospitality that touched generations. Babe married Ronald Eckstein on February 9, 1957, at St. Boniface Church, building a partnership of nearly 69 years grounded in mutual affection and shared values that anchored their household in Peoria. She dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother, nurturing her four children with endless patience and support that fostered emotional growth and stability in their home.
A devout Catholic, Babe exemplified faith through daily prayer of the rosary, finding spiritual strength and guidance in her religious practice that complemented her life’s priorities. Her gentle nature and compassionate heart made her a source of comfort, always ready to offer kindness and encouragement in everyday interactions within Peoria’s neighborhoods. Babe is survived by her husband Ronald of Peoria, children Michael (Tory) Eckstein of Mapleton, Patrick Eckstein of Bartonville, Christina Eckstein of Peoria, and Thomas (Amy) Eckstein of Germantown Hills, along with grandchildren Mallory (Carlos) Brown, Morgan Eckstein, Benjamin Eckstein, and Samuel Eckstein, plus great-grandson Carson Brown. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on December 26, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kickapoo, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., with graveside services at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
