Fred R. Thiemann, 70, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Edina, Minnesota at the Geneva Suites Living Community. Funeral services will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. and burial at Springdale Cemetery.
Fred R. Thiemann was born on June 29, 1955, in Peoria, Illinois, to Robert and Wilma Thiemann. He grew up in Peoria, graduating from Woodruff High School in 1973 before earning a Bachelor’s degree in English from Bradley University. His professional career included work as a real estate appraiser at the Peoria Township Assessor’s office, later joining his father at R. E. Thiemann Realtors.
Fred is survived by his children: Richard Thiemann of Peoria, Rachel (Geoffrey) Bird of Chicago, and Lauren (Clay) Gallardo of Honolulu. He is also survived by his siblings: Dr. William Thiemann of Minneapolis, Bruce (Teri) Thiemann of East Peoria, Jeri (Tim) Taylor of Peoria, and June (Dan Bartholomay) Thiemann of Minneapolis, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Thiemann.
Fred was an enthusiast of 1960s and 1970s music, with a prized vinyl collection featuring artists such as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Neil Young. His love for music reflected his vibrant personality and appreciation for culture. Friends and family remember him as a man of warmth, resilience, and humor, who carried forward the values instilled by his family.
The family expressed deep gratitude to the hospice care team and the many caregivers who supported Fred throughout his life. Their dedication and compassion provided comfort during his final days.
Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, 2416 N. North St., Peoria, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m., with burial at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
