George Francis Jacob, a beloved resident of Peoria, Illinois, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the age of 61. His passing marks the loss of a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and community leader whose life was defined by service, dedication, and love for those around him.
George was a proud graduate of Dunlap High School and Northern Illinois University. His professional journey led him to become president of Brewers Distributing Company, where he earned respect for his leadership and vision. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois, contributing to the growth and strength of the industry.
Beyond his career, George’s heart was deeply tied to his community. He served as a member of the Peoria City Council, supported Neighborhood House, and co‑founded the Moonlight Basketball League, a program that brought people together and gave young people opportunities to grow. His commitment to civic service reflected his belief in building stronger, more connected communities.
George is survived by his wife, Jeannine, and their five children, who will carry forward his legacy of love and perseverance. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Jacob, and his sister, Meg Jacob. His extended family includes many sisters‑in‑law and brothers‑in‑law, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great‑nieces, and great‑nephews, all of whom cherished his presence and will miss him dearly.
On Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., there will be a viewing at the church. After the visitation, the rosary will be recited. On Friday, January 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., there will be a funeral Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will start an hour before the Mass. People from the community, family, and friends are asked to come together for prayer and memory.
