High Point police officers responded to a shots fired call around 3 a.m. on Wednesday March 18 2026 at the Oaks at Silver Ridge apartment complex in the 2900 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The first officer arrived within two minutes and found 22-year-old Jonal N. Hodge of High Point inside a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The officer immediately began life saving efforts while Guilford County EMS transported her to a local hospital in critical condition. She died a short time later marking the second criminal homicide in High Point this year. Officers at the scene spoke with witnesses who identified the shooter as Hodge’s boyfriend.
Witnesses reported that the suspect walked up to the vehicle and began shooting during what investigators determined was a domestic related incident. Around 7 a.m. High Point 911 received a call about a suspicious person entering a shed on Hendrix Street. Officers responded and as they prepared to approach they heard a gunshot from inside the shed. They discovered a man suffering from a self inflicted gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured during the response.
Investigators identified the man in the shed as 34 year old Adrin K. Rome of Edenton, North Carolina and confirmed he was the suspect in the shooting at the Oaks at Silver Ridge apartment complex. The case has been classified as a domestic related homicide with detectives determining Rome acted alone and no additional suspects are being sought.
