Jacinda Barzan, a 33-year-old cherished resident of Wurtulla on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, tragically passed away on December 8, 2025, following a single-vehicle e-scooter accident in Aroona.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, when Barzan lost control while riding along Beerburrum Street, crashing severely and sustaining life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where she fought for her life before succumbing the next day.
Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances, appealing for dashcam footage or witnesses to aid in understanding the factors leading to the loss of control. This marks the second e-scooter or e-bike fatality on the Sunshine Coast this year, following an 8-year-old boy’s death in October, amid a statewide surge with 14 such deaths in 2025.
