A tragic incident claimed the life of 16-year-old Jaimin White, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The high school student’s death has left his family and the Atlanta community in mourning.
The incident began earlier in the evening at a residence in the 1500 block of Ferno Drive Northwest, a residential street in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood. According to the Atlanta Police Department, Jaimin White sustained the critical gunshot wound at this location.
Contrary to some initial reports, Jaimin did not drive himself to seek help. Instead, a family member, recognizing the severity of the situation, transported the injured teen in a personal vehicle. Their destination was Atlanta Fire Rescue Station 38, located at 1045 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, approximately three miles from the scene of the shooting.
Atlanta police officers were dispatched to the fire station around 10:50 p.m.. Upon arrival, they found Jaimin White unresponsive in a vehicle. Despite any emergency efforts provided at the scene, the 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the fire station. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the agency responsible for determining cause and manner of death for incidents in Fulton County, later officially confirmed his identity.
After a thorough investigation that processed the scene and gathered evidence, Atlanta police determined the fatal injury was self-inflicted. Jaimin White was a student at Maynard Jackson High School in Atlanta’s Glenwood Park neighborhood.
