Jamison Phillips Death – Young resident of Arnaudville died in Louisiana Highway 686 major crash

Jamison Phillips, 19, died in a major collision along Louisiana Highway 686 in St. Martin Parish. The little hamlet of Arnaudville is in mourning. The event happened just before noon on April 6, 2026, when emergency personnel were summoned to the site of a single-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck carrying a utility trailer, according to Louisiana State Police.

Investigators reported that a 2019 Ram 1500 was traveling eastbound on LA 686 near LA Highway 347 while towing a trailer loaded with a mattress. Phillips was riding in the trailer at the time, a position not designed for passengers. For reasons still under investigation, he was ejected from the trailer and thrown onto the roadway.

Emergency personnel arrived quickly and found Phillips with severe injuries resulting from the fall. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, Louisiana State Police later confirmed that Phillips succumbed to his injuries on April 11, 2026.

Authorities stated that the driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash. Troopers emphasized that Louisiana law prohibits riding in unsafe areas of a vehicle, including trailers, tailgates, fenders, or any exterior part not designed for passengers. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine what caused Phillips to be thrown from the trailer.

The crash occurred along a frontage section of LA 686, a rural roadway that runs through parts of St. Martin Parish and is commonly used for local travel and agricultural transport. Police have not released additional details regarding speed, roadway conditions, or whether any mechanical issues may have contributed to the incident.

Phillips’ death has deeply affected the Arnaudville community, where he was known as a young resident with strong local ties. Friends, family, and neighbors are grieving the sudden and preventable nature of the tragedy as authorities continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
