Johnny “Red Fox” Fields, a lifelong resident of the East Bernstadt and London, Kentucky area, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 95. Known throughout Laurel County for his hard work, quiet faith, and love of the open road, Red Fox leaves behind a large and loving family who remember him as the steady heart of their home.
Born August 20, 1930, in Fogertown, Kentucky, to the late Isaac and Stella Lyttle Fields, Johnny built a successful career as an owner-operator truck driver. For decades he ran Fields Trucking, hauling freight across the region with the same reliability and pride that defined everything he did.
Johnny was married to Sue Howard Fields for 45 cherished years. Together they raised eight children: Delilah Owens, Tammy Sizemore, Beverly Fields, Sandra Fields, Bettina Fields Pennington, Tyler Fields, Monica Jackson, and Rodney Roark. He was preceded in death by one son, Russell Fields, and a sister, Lucille Fields.
He took special joy in his eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, as well as his surviving siblings Bonnie, Ward, Timmy, and Roy Fields of Michigan. Johnny also held a deep affection for the extended Hoskins family.
A man of Christian faith, Johnny found contentment in simple pleasures and the satisfaction of a long day’s work behind the wheel. Those who knew him best recall his easy smile, his willingness to lend a hand, and the way he made time for everyone who crossed his path.
The Fields family has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support shown by the community during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Bowling Funeral Home Chapel in London, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions to help with final expenses.
