Joseph “Joey” Douglas Lynch was the kind of person who could make a room feel lighter just by walking into it. He had a joke ready, a smile that came easily, and a way of making the people around him feel at ease. When he died on March 24, 2026, at the age of 53, he left behind a family that knew him not only as a son, a father, and a brother, but as the person who could always be counted on to lift the mood.
Born on November 15, 1972, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Joey grew up surrounded by the people who would remain at the center of his life. His mother, Judith, was his constant. His daughter, Madison, was his pride. His siblings, Kelly and James, were his anchors.
He worked as a field technician at ITG Communications, a job that took him on the road, but he never let the miles keep him from the people he loved. He carried his warmth with him wherever he went, and the connections he made along the way were a testament to the kind of person he was.
Joey had a natural gift for making people smile. It wasn’t something he tried to do; it was simply who he was. He was the one who told the joke at the family gathering, who found the humor in a difficult moment, who made the ordinary days feel a little brighter. His nieces and nephews remember him as the uncle who could make them laugh until their sides hurt. His daughter, Madison, knew him as the father who showed up, who loved her fiercely, who made sure she knew she was the best thing he ever did.
He is survived by his mother, Judith Lynch; his daughter, Madison; his sister, Kelly DiLullo and her husband John; his brother, James Lynch and his wife Donna; his sister-in-law Heather Lynch; his nieces Mariah Lynch and her husband Alex Markowich, Autumn and her husband Dr. Vincent Canzanese, and Paige DiLullo; his nephews Kolby Lynch, Ayden Lynch, and John Michael DiLullo; and his great-nieces, Alexis and Violet Markowich. They are the ones who knew him best, who laughed at his jokes, who leaned on his steadiness, who will miss him every day.
At O’Brien’s Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Bristol, calling hours will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026. At 11:00 a.m., a funeral procession will depart for the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, located at 309 S. Main St. in Waterbury. The burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery. Joey’s loved ones will get together on this day to tell tales, support one another, and bid farewell to a man who brought a little warmth into their lives.
Joey was 53 years old. He was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend. He worked hard, loved deeply, and never lost his ability to find the light in any room. He is gone now, but the laughter he brought, the ease he offered, the way he made people feel like they mattered, all of that remains. In his daughter, in his mother, in the siblings who will carry his memory forward, Joey’s spirit will not fade. Rest easy, Joey. You made the world a little brighter.
