On Monday, January 5, 2026, Joseph Lynn Hill, well known as Joe, a loving Mount Olive, North Carolina citizen, died away at Wayne UNC Healthcare in Goldsboro. Family, friends, and the community have been very saddened by his departure; they recall him as a man of modest living, sincere compassion, and unwavering passions.
Joe, 64, has lived in the Goldsboro neighborhood of Spring Bank for a long time. Because of his genuine and modest lifestyle, he was well admired. He discovered that the small, ordinary moments that make a life full and satisfying are what bring him the most happiness rather than large gestures.
Everyone who knew him loved and respected him because of his sincere personality, and his community will greatly miss his kind presence. His enthusiasm for the small things in life was contagious, and he was adored for his love of vintage films, wrestling, and Duke basketball.
The foundation of Joe’s life was his love for his family, which was demonstrated by the strong relationships he had with his brothers, Michael Wayne Hill and Laney Carl “L.C.” Hill, as well as his nieces and nephews. Jean Strickland of Goldsboro, a close friend, also survives him. On Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., the family will celebrate Joe’s life with guests at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. The Reverend Danny Justice will lead a memorial ceremony in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.
A committal will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive after the service. These get-togethers will provide loved ones a chance to celebrate Joe’s life, share their treasured memories, and remember his legacy of sincerity and kindness. The family has kindly asked that memorial donations be donated to the charity of one’s choosing instead of flowers. Several aunts and uncles, whose lives he also touched with his kind nature, also survive him.
