On December 2, 2025, the community of Seagraves, Texas, was heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Julisa Lovington, who passed away in her sleep at the young age of 27. Known for her vibrant smile, generous heart, and deep community ties, her sudden departure has left family, friends, and neighbors in profound sorrow.
A true West Texas native, Julisa graduated from Seagraves High School in 2016, where she was actively involved in FFA and cheerleading. She earned an associate’s degree in cosmetology from South Plains College and built a loyal following as a talented stylist in a local salon, cherished by clients as much for her warm conversation as for her skill.
Driven by her compassion for others, Julisa also worked as a medical assistant at a clinic in Lubbock and was pursuing her certification to become a licensed vocational nurse. Her colleagues remember her gentle, reassuring presence and her habit of going the extra mile to comfort patients, often staying after her shift to ensure everyone felt cared for and seen.
Julisa’s energy and love for life extended well beyond her work. She was the heart of every gathering—hosting Sunday cookouts with her famous brisket tacos, dancing at local rodeos, and organizing weekend fishing trips. She also gave back regularly, volunteering at the Seagraves Food Pantry and helping her grandmother care for the family pecan orchard.
Family was central to Julisa’s world. She was a devoted daughter, a proud big sister who never missed a sibling’s event, and a friend who made her home a welcoming place for all. In the wake of this tragedy, the community has rallied around the Lovington family with a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses, reflecting the same spirit of care that Julisa lived by every day.
Though her life was far too short, Julisa’s legacy of kindness, joy, and selflessness continues to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Rest in peace, Julisa. Your light will never fade in Seagraves.
