On December 1, 2025, St. Paul said goodbye to Linda Hayhurst, who passed away peacefully after a courageous 12-year journey with dementia. She was surrounded by the love of her devoted partner, Barbara, whose unwavering care and commitment never faltered throughout the long and difficult path of her illness. Together, Linda and Barbara shared a beautiful, more than 30-year partnership that stood as a quiet testament to enduring love.
Linda spent her professional life in healthcare administration, where she was known for her calming presence, kindness, and genuine care for others. She was the colleague who remembered birthdays, offered a thoughtful word, and transformed a busy office into a place where everyone felt supported and valued.
Outside of work, Linda found joy in life’s simple pleasures: Sunday drives along the Mississippi River, tending to her spring garden, cheering on the Minnesota Twins with Barbara, and hosting backyard gatherings filled with laughter and good food. Her warm laugh and attentive way of listening made everyone around her feel heard and appreciated.
Though dementia gradually changed Linda over the years, it never dimmed the love and light she inspired. Barbara lovingly cared for her at home until the very end, ensuring Linda’s final days were spent in the comfort of familiar surroundings and deep affection.
