The unexpected death of Nicholas Amitrano, a gentle giant whose contagious laugh, comic-book love, and unending generosity made everyone around him feel like they were in his own personal Avengers team, has devastated the community Johnston in Rhode Island. Nick passed away far too soon, but the happiness he brought will endure in every Marvel shirt worn, every anime episode viewed, and every friend who smiles in remembrance of him.
Growing up in Johnston, Nick converted his bedroom into a shrine to comic books and his garden into a playground for the local children. He was always willing to share his collection or debate the greatest superhero lineup for hours with anybody who would listen. He could cite Spider-Man wisdom one minute and Dragon Ball power levels the next.
His true ability was making others feel happy, although he put forth a lot of effort every day. Nick had a talent for cheering people up, whether he was helping a buddy relocate, bringing food for game night, or just sending a meme at the right time. His “you got this” encouragement was precisely what you needed to hear, his hugs were legendary, and his high fives were huge.
Nick’s world revolved on his family and friends. His cosplay enthusiasm and late-night movie marathons will be missed by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a select group of comic-con friends. His house was always available for late-night conversations, pizza, and viewing the full MCU again.
One of Johnston’s brightest lights has gone out. Just by being in the world, Nicholas Amitrano made it seem a bit more heroic. He loved without boundaries and lived with heart.
The Berarducci Funeral Home in Johnston will host services on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Everyone is urged to celebrate the hobbies that made Nick so happy by donning Marvel, DC, or anime shirts, in typical Nick flair. Nick would have adored it if you had shown up as your favorite hero.
Rest easy, Nick. The universe recently welcomed a new protector.
