Patsy J. Strycker, a beloved resident of the Goshen community, passed away on January 2, 2026, at Hubbard Hill Living Wisdom in Elkhart, Indiana. At the remarkable age of 93, she left behind a rich legacy shaped by decades of family devotion and quiet strength. Her passing brings a gentle close to a life marked by enduring love and deep connections with those around her.
Born on April 29, 1932, in Goshen, Indiana, to Loyd and Mary (Miller) Soncarty, Patsy grew up rooted in the heart of Elkhart County. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1950, a milestone that reflected her determination and the values instilled by her parents. Those early years in Goshen laid the foundation for a lifetime spent nurturing relationships in the same close-knit area she always called home.
On June 8, 1952, Patsy married Stanley J. Strycker, the love of her life, in a ceremony held in Goshen. Their union, which spanned more than 71 years until Stanley’s passing in January 2024, became the cornerstone of her world. Together they built a family filled with warmth, raising children who would carry forward professions of service and care in the medical field.
She is survived by her son Dr. Douglas (Helen Ann) Strycker of Milford, Indiana; daughter Connie (Robert) Springer of Metamora, Illinois; son Dr. Stephen (Sharon) Strycker of St. Joseph, Michigan; and daughter-in-law Andrea Strycker of Parker, Colorado. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and her brother Philip (Pat) Soncarty of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. Stanley, and her son Dr. David B. Strycker.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Community Church in Goshen, followed immediately by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will take place at Violett Cemetery, allowing loved ones to gather in reflection and gratitude. These arrangements honor her wish for a simple yet meaningful farewell surrounded by community.
