On November 25, 2025, Peter James Hafiz, a beloved resident of Minnesota sadly passed away, leaving the communities of West St. Paul and the Twin Cities Orthodox in mourning. Peter left us quietly, surrounded by the love he gave so freely throughout his life. His warm spirit, ready smile, and open heart made everyone feel like family the moment they met him.
Peter grew up in the familiar streets of St. Paul, where church bells and neighborhood gatherings shaped his deep faith and easy kindness. A lifelong member of Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church, he was the guy who showed up early to set up coffee hour, stayed late to clean, and always had time to listen or share a laugh.
Friends remember Peter as the person who never forgot a birthday, who brought meals when someone was sick, and who could fix just about anything with patience and a story. Whether he was grilling in the backyard, cheering at his kids’ games, or simply sitting on the porch waving at neighbors, Peter made ordinary moments feel special.
Family was Peter’s greatest joy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who lived to see his loved ones happy. His home was filled with the smell of Arabic coffee, the sound of laughter, and the feeling that you were exactly where you were supposed to be.
West St. Paul has lost one of its quiet heroes. Peter James Hafiz taught us how to love without keeping score and how to live with faith in our hearts and kindness in our hands.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church in West St. Paul, where family and friends can gather to share memories and celebrate his life. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, with burial at Riverview Cemetery. All are welcome to honor a man who made the world gentler simply by being in it. Rest in peace, Peter.
