In the Amite County community, 19-year-old Rajuan “Ray” Clark Jr. lost his life in a senseless shooting on November 22, 2025, outside a Liberty gathering spot.

Amite County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire, finding the Liberty High School graduate with fatal wounds. His tragic death has left teammates, family, and the rural southwest Mississippi area in profound mourning.

Rajuan graduated from Liberty High School in 2024, where he starred as a running back for the Flyers football team, rushing for over 1,200 yards his senior year. He enrolled at Southwest Mississippi Community College on a football scholarship, majoring in kinesiology. His athletic education highlighted a promising path in sports and coaching.

Rajuan worked part-time as a farm hand during summers, helping with local cattle operations while training for the Bears’ fall season. Coaches praised his work ethic and leadership during team drills. His early professional steps reflected a young man committed to team success and community roots.

Rajuan shared a family home in Liberty with his parents and three younger siblings, where evenings centered on backyard football tosses and shared meals. He stayed close to extended relatives through church events at Greater Morning Star Baptist. These bonds formed the joyful foundation of his energetic young life.

Rajuan embraced an active routine with dawn runs along county roads and weight sessions at the high school gym. He enjoyed fishing the Homochitto River on weekends and mentoring youth players at community camps. His hobbies blended athletic drive with simple outdoor joys in the Piney Woods.
