Richard Provost passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Oshawa is in sorrow. Richard softly departed from us at the age of 76, surrounded by the affection he had bestowed so freely throughout his life, particularly to Sandra, his beloved wife and closest friend of 23 years.
Throughout his career, Richard worked for the Bank of Montreal, where he was respected by both clients and coworkers for his composed professionalism, consistent dependability, and quiet integrity.
With patience and a comforting smile, he took great pleasure in assisting individuals with financial management and future planning. He accepted retirement with the same poise he used to everything else.
At home, Richard was simply Sandra’s rock. For 23 years they were inseparable partners, sharing everything from morning coffee on the porch to spontaneous road trips up Highway 35, from cheering on the Leafs (even during the tough seasons) to quiet evenings with a good book or a classic movie. Their love was the kind that made everyone around them could feel.
Richard loved the simple pleasures: a round of golf with friends, a perfectly grilled steak, long walks with Sandra and their dog, and the satisfaction of a well-tended garden. He had a dry wit that caught you off guard and a gentle way of making everyone feel valued. Whether he was fixing something around the house or offering quiet advice, Richard made the world a little steadier for those lucky enough to know him.
Oshawa has lost a true gentleman. Richard Provost lived with loyalty, worked with honour, and loved with his whole heart. His memory will live on in Sandra’s smile, in the stories shared over coffee, and in every act of kindness done in his name.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held in the coming days with details to be shared by the family. Until then, Oshawa holds Sandra and all who loved him close, grateful for the gift of a man who made life a little brighter just by being in it. Rest easy, Richard. You earned it.
