A beloved resident of Whitney, Texas, Robert (Bob) Wilson Ljungdahl has sadly passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 89, at the Sales Family Hope Center at Sunset Home in Clifton. His departure leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Born on November 19, 1936, in Colby, Kansas, Bob was the son of Lester H. and Ruth (Wilson) Ljungdahl. He spent his formative years in Manhattan, Kansas, where he graduated from high school before pursuing higher education. His academic journey began at Kansas State College and culminated in 1963 when he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and Latin American Studies from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. Alongside his studies, Bob also served proudly in the Texas Air National Guard, reflecting his commitment to both learning and service.
Bob’s life was defined by his devotion to family. He was a beloved husband, father, and “MiDaddy,” roles he embraced with warmth and joy. He found happiness in simple pleasures—fishing, traveling with his wife, and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Above all, he treasured time spent with family and friends, moments that brought him the greatest fulfillment.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Ljungdahl of Whitney, whose partnership with Bob was marked by enduring love and companionship. His daughters, Debbie Little and husband Larry of Abbott, and Carolyne Ljungdahl and partner Jeff King of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. His grandchildren—Cole Little and wife Molly, Madeline Little, and Susan Grace Pelzl—will remember him with deep affection. Bob also leaves behind his brother, Bill Ljungdahl and wife Jeannine; his sister, Beate Sachnowitz and husband Mike; sister-in-law Patty Ljungdahl; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Phil Ljungdahl, and sister-in-law Nancy Ljungdahl. Though his absence is deeply felt, his memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to those who loved him.
Robert Wilson Ljungdahl’s story is one of dedication, love, and a life well lived. His presence enriched the lives of many, and his legacy will continue to shine through the family and friends who now carry his spirit forward.
