It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Rose Alby, a cherished resident of Albion, Indiana. She died peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by the comforting strains of “Amazing Grace” at Ascension Living Sacred Heart Village Nursing Home in Avilla. Her gentle departure marks the end of a life dedicated to hard work and family ties.
Born on October 27, 1941, in Columbia City to the late Joseph and Ella (Sheets) Born, Sharon grew up in a close family environment that shaped her resilient character. She completed her education at Knightstown High School, graduating with the skills and determination that would define her professional path. Those formative years in Indiana instilled in her a strong work ethic that she carried throughout her life.
Sharon married Richard Alby on November 15, 2001, a union that brought companionship in her later years until his passing on March 6, 2003. Professionally, she contributed diligently to the healthcare community, working in the cafeteria at Parkview Hospital and later in the kitchen at Whitley County Hospital. Known among colleagues and friends as a hard worker, she approached every task with reliability and care.
Sharon is survived by her daughter Deborah (Steven) Earnhart; sons Duane (Angela) Alexander and Darren (Melissa) Alexander; and five stepchildren, Vicki Davis, Kathy Alby, Susan Alby, Theresa Alby, and Dionne Landgraft. Her legacy continues through four grandchildren—Derek (Jamie) Earnhart, Darbi (David) Konkle, Brooke (Nick) Houser, and Brandi Alexander—as well as seven great-grandchildren: James, Max, and Allison Earnhart; and Daelyn, Deslyn, Dellah, and Daxtyn Konkle. This extensive family reflects the nurturing bonds she fostered over decades.
A Celebration of Life Service will honor Sharon on January 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Nursing Home Chapel in Avilla, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and share memories. The service promises to be a heartfelt tribute to her enduring spirit.
