On November 28, 2025, Tina Biddle, 52, the Director of the Snowbird Ski Patrol and a beloved figure in Breckenridge, Colorado, sadly passed away, leaving the skiing and mountain safety community heartbroken.
Born in Denver on April 12, 1973, Tina grew up in the Rocky Mountains, where family trips to Keystone Resort fostered her lifelong passion for skiing. She formalized this calling by earning an associate’s degree in outdoor recreation management from Colorado Mountain College in Leadville in 1995.
Her professional journey began in 1997 as a rookie patroller at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Her sharp instincts and collaborative nature propelled her forward in a field that was, at the time, predominantly male. In 2001, she joined the Snowbird Ski Patrol in Utah, where she dedicated the next 24 years to mastering avalanche forecasting and rescue operations.
She rose to assistant director in 2015 and was appointed director in 2017. Under her leadership, the patrol team grew significantly, and she fostered an inclusive culture that prioritized advanced training and mental health support for her team of 80 patrollers.
Tina’s personal life was rooted in the mountains she loved. She shared a cabin in Breckenridge with her partner of 15 years, fellow patroller Mark Reilly, and their golden retriever, Summit. She balanced the intensity of patrol work with backcountry camping in Yellowstone, volunteer avalanche awareness clinics, fly-fishing on the Snake River, and mentoring young women through National Ski Patrol programs.
An avid learner, she held certifications in wilderness first response and helicopter rescue and kept detailed journals that blended technical observations with reflective notes on the alpine environment.
Tina Biddle’s legacy is one of transformative leadership, unwavering dedication to safety, and a deep, soulful connection to the mountains. A memorial ski-out will be held on December 7, 2025, at Breckenridge’s Peak 8. The family suggests that donations in her memory be made to Friends of Hidden Peak, the patroller wellness nonprofit she actively championed.
