Tyler Matthew Chau of Smithtown, New York unexpectedly passed away on November 25, 2025. At just 33, Tyler departed us much too soon, but the love, enthusiasm, and generosity he put into every day will live on in the numerous lives he touched around Long Island.
Growing up in Smithtown, Tyler was the child who always had a joke, a grin, and an open seat at his lunch table. He kept that same energy into adulthood, making friends wherever he went, whether it was on the job, at the gym, or cheering at an Islanders game with his crew. His laugh was infectious, his hugs were genuine, and his loyalty went deep.

Tyler worked hard and played harder. He enjoyed being outside, whether it was for weekend cookouts, fishing on the Sound, or impromptu road excursions upstate with his closest pals. He had a flair for turning ordinary moments into memories, always the one arranging the next adventure or making sure no one felt left out.
Family was Tyler’s basis. He left behind parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a tight group of acquaintances who became family. His house was the meeting location for holidays, game nights, and any reason to fire up the grill. Tyler lived to make the people he loved feel special, and he succeeded every single day.
Tyler Matthew Chau had an open heart and a vibrant attitude. The world feels a little dimmer without his brightness, but his memory will remain glowing in every dawn over the Nissequogue and every tale shared around the table for years to come.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Fives Smithtown Funeral Home, followed by the funeral ceremony on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Come celebrate a life that meant so much to so many, everyone who knew and loved Tyler is invited.
