On November 26, 2025, 22-year-old Zamarkus Kentrell Brister of Foxworth, Mississippi, was fatally shot during a violent incident at Reagan’s Corner Convenience Store in Kokomo, Marion County. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Two suspects have since been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire shortly after the shooting. They found Zamarkus suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency crews rushed him to a nearby hospital, where medical staff fought to save him. Despite their best efforts, Zamarkus was pronounced dead a short time later. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators are still working to piece together what led to the shooting. At this time, no suspect has been named publicly and the motive remains under investigation. Sheriff Berkley Hall has asked anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers. The case is being treated as a homicide.

His sudden loss has left his parents, siblings, and the entire extended family devastated.
Foxworth and Kokomo have lost one of their own far too soon. Zamarkus Kentrell Brister’s life was cut short, but the love he gave and the memories he made will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Funeral arrangements are pending with the family.
