Kelly Marie Astone of Burlington, Massachusetts, a radiant soul whose gentle presence brought immeasurable joy, love, and a true sense of belonging to everyone fortunate enough to know her, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at the age of 38, leaving family and friends in the community with heavy hearts yet overflowing gratitude for the light she shared so freely despite the daily challenges she faced.
Born in Waltham to devoted parents Frank and Rhoda Astone, she became a lifelong resident of Burlington where her family poured boundless energy into creating the best possible life for her after she was diagnosed as a young child with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that deeply affected her ability to communicate, move purposefully, and use her hands or speech in typical ways.
From early childhood through her early twenties Kelly attended the LABBB Educational Collaborative in Lexington, where dedicated educators and staff supported her growth in a nurturing environment tailored to her unique needs, helping her engage with the world around her in ways that celebrated her individuality and quiet strengths.
For the past sixteen years she participated in the Minuteman Arc day program in Concord, finding meaningful routines and friendships that enriched her days, and in more recent years she thrived as part of the Edinburg Center group home community in the area, where caregivers and fellow residents formed an extended family that embraced her with warmth and respect.
Despite the profound limitations Rett syndrome placed on her daily life, Kelly radiated an unmistakable joy that touched everyone she encountered, offering smiles, laughter, and a pure-hearted presence that reminded her parents, siblings, and all who knew her of the profound beauty found in simple connections and unconditional love.
