We announce the passing of Kimberly Jill Morrell, affectionately known as “KJ,” who died peacefully in Port Perry on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. At the age of 49, Ms. Morrell’s departure has left a significant void in the community of Port Perry, Ontario, where she was celebrated for her entrepreneurial spirit, charitable heart, and resilience.
Her life was defined by a commitment to service, both through her business ventures and her tireless advocacy for health causes. The community mourns the loss of a woman whose warmth and determination inspired all who knew her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Kimmie was deeply committed to philanthropy, organizing numerous charitable events in support of local causes. She held a special dedication to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer, a cause that resonated deeply with her personal experiences and values.
Her efforts mobilized the community, bringing together neighbors and organizations to support those affected by the disease. Friends remember her passion and persistence, noting how her initiatives provided both financial assistance and emotional support to many families.
Following the sale of her business in 2016, Kimberly took a four-month break in Mexico to grieve the loss of her older sister. This period of reflection allowed her to process her grief and rediscover her strength. Upon returning home, she channelled her resilience into a new path, enrolling in the Hospitality Management Program at Durham College.
During her time in school, Kimmie worked seasonally at the Goodwood Golf Course as the Food and Beverage Manager. In this role, she demonstrated exceptional leadership, warmth, and professionalism, making a lasting impression on both staff and guests. Her ability to manage operations with grace and efficiency earned her the respect of colleagues, who valued her collaborative approach and attention to detail.
Kimberly Jill Morrell is survived by her family, friends, and a wide network of community members who continue to honor her memory. Her legacy endures in the charitable causes she supported, the businesses she built, and the kindness she shared with others.
