Police in Indianapolis are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Park Avenue on the city’s north side, where officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the area.
Responding officers arrived within minutes and located the victim lying near the sidewalk as residents gathered outside amid a chaotic scene. Officers immediately began providing medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived to take over treatment.
The victim was identified as Brittany Grundy, who was transported under emergency conditions to a local Level I trauma hospital. Despite advanced trauma care and surgical intervention, she later died from her injuries.
Investigators confirmed that two additional individuals were also injured in the same incident. Those victims, both adult males, self‑transported to area hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds believed to have been sustained during the Park Avenue shooting. Their conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting may have followed a disturbance or argument that escalated shortly before gunfire erupted. Detectives are also examining whether the incident may have occurred at or near a short‑term rental property, though no final determination has been made.
