Captain Keith Wicker, a devoted police officer who worked for the department for more than 25 years, is being mourned by the Englewood Cliffs neighborhood. He fought valiantly for several years against brain cancer until passing away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at the age of 51.
Keith was born and raised in the area and became a true pillar of Englewood Cliffs. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy, and their two children, Charlie and Paige. His family stood by him with incredible support during his illness, just as he had always supported them.
Keith joined the Englewood Cliffs Police Department in 2000. He completed police academy training in 2001 and started his career in patrol. Over the years, he earned steady promotions because of his strong work ethic, natural leadership, and deep commitment to keeping people safe. Colleagues knew him as someone who stayed calm in tough moments, made smart decisions under stress, and truly cared about both the public and his fellow officers.
As captain, he managed department operations, guided newer officers, and helped keep the force known for being quick to respond and always acting with honesty. In this small but busy borough along the Hudson River, his work showed real skill combined with a strong sense of responsibility to protect his hometown.
Even while battling cancer, Keith handled every difficulty with the same bravery and dignity he showed on the job. He refused to let the illness take over his life. Instead, he kept focusing on the people he loved and the community he had promised to serve. He continued to lift up officers, friends, and family around him.
In his final days, members of the Englewood Cliffs Police Department quietly worked hard to make sure Amy and the children would keep their health insurance coverage. This act showed the strong bond and care that defined the department—and reflected the kind of man Keith was.
To his family, Keith was a loving husband and father. He and Amy created a warm home full of laughter, respect, and support.
