Just hours after being spotted alive on social media at a nearby nightclub, 33-year-old Tabulon Debreshea Reece, a mother of two, was discovered slain in an industrial section of Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Nicholas Jordan Gandy, 37, her longtime lover, has been taken into custody and accused of killing her.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a 911 call for a welfare check at approximately 6:00 a.m. in the 700 block of Lawton Road, an industrial area off Brookshire Boulevard, where the caller reported a woman lying on the ground and not moving.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered Reece suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The weather at the time was heavy rain, which was documented in footage from the scene. Investigators quickly began piecing together the final hours of Reece’s life with the help of her grieving family.
Family members told detectives that Reece and Gandy had gone out together to a club off North Graham Street in Charlotte the night before. A Snapchat video posted by the victim around midnight showed her at the club wearing the same clothes she was found in, and Gandy was allegedly seen in the video with her. The family stated that Reece had left home driving her Honda Accord, but that Gandy had returned to her residence in her vehicle after the murder, allegedly telling the family that she had his vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Gandy had been arrested at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday—not long before Reece was found—at the Amazon Distribution Center on Old Dowd Road and charged with trespassing in an unrelated incident. A vehicle towed from that Amazon facility was registered to Reece. When detectives searched the impounded vehicle, which was Gandy’s beige Lexus, they discovered blood inside the vehicle along with a discharged cartridge casing on the driver’s side floorboard. Gandy’s ID card was found hanging from the rearview mirror.
Based on this evidence, officers arrested Gandy and charged him with murder. He is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court next on March 10.
