Grants Family Shot to Death at 18 Ashworth Drive, Star Grant and Devan Loving Charged

The Fairview community in Buncombe County, North Carolina, is heartbroken following the tragic deaths of Travis Eugene Grant, 41, his wife Kimberly Michelle Grant, 42, and his mother Sharon Harwood Grant, 66.

The three family members, representing multiple generations, were discovered deceased inside their home on Thursday evening, May 7, 2026. Deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at the residence located at 18 Ashworth Drive in Fairview around 7:15 p.m. Upon entering the home, they found the victims who had suffered gunshot wounds.

This was reportedly the third welfare check conducted at the Ashworth Drive address since the previous Monday. Authorities confirmed the victims had been deceased for several days prior to discovery. Travis and Kimberly Grant were husband and wife, while Sharon Harwood Grant was Travis’s mother.

The shocking loss of three generations within one family has left relatives, friends, and neighbors in profound grief as the tight-knit Fairview community struggles to process the unimaginable tragedy.

Detectives determined that 16-year-old Star Grant, the daughter of Travis and Kimberly who resided at the home, was missing following the discovery. She and 28-year-old Devan Oneal Loving were later located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in the early morning hours of May 8. Both were taken into custody without incident and charged as adults with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony conspiracy to commit murder each. They face extradition back to North Carolina.
