Jennifer Downing Edwards Death – Beloved resident of Ann Arbor, Michigan has peacefully died

With deep regret, we announce the passing of Jennifer Downing Edwards, age 75, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, who died peacefully on May 8, 2026, from cancer-related complications. A woman of remarkable intellect, quiet strength, and generous spirit, Jennifer lived a life defined by dedication to her profession, love for her family, and joyful service to her community.

Jennifer was a highly accomplished Certified Public Accountant. She began her career in tax at the prestigious firm Arthur Andersen, later serving as an accountant at Integrated Health Associates (IHA) and as an internal auditor at Ford Motor Company. Her sharp mind and strong work ethic earned her respect throughout her professional journey.

She truly flourished through meaningful service. She served as a devoted docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), sharing her love of art with countless visitors. She also gave her time as treasurer for the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop and as an usher at the historic Hill Auditorium, roles that brought her great fulfillment and allowed her to stay deeply connected to the cultural life of Ann Arbor.

In order to be nearer to her daughter Kathryn, whom she frequently referred to as her greatest achievement and most delight, Jennifer relocated to Cary, North Carolina, following her cancer diagnosis in 2024. She was able to face her sickness with dignity and grace while spending valuable time with her family thanks to this chapter.

Jennifer was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and intelligence left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She approached life with curiosity, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the arts, education, and service to others. Her presence brought steadiness and encouragement to her family and community alike.

Jennifer Downing Edwards will be remembered as a brilliant accountant, a passionate arts advocate, and a devoted mother whose grace, intellect, and generous heart touched many lives. Though her time with us has ended, the values she lived by and the love she gave so freely will continue to inspire her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
