The family of John Stanley Edwards from Knutton is deeply saddened to share that he passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, at the age of 94. He spent his final nine years living comfortably at Brindley Court Care Home.
John spent his entire life in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Knutton area. He lived a long, meaningful life centered on his love for family, his calm and respectful nature, and many years of steady, honest work. He shared nearly 71 wonderful years of marriage with his dear wife, Norma. Together, they created a warm and secure home built on love, trust, and shared principles that carried them through good times and difficult ones alike.
To his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, John was a cherished Dad, Grandad, Great-Grandad, and admired Father-in-Law. He took great joy in his family and gave them constant support, gentle laughter, and unwavering care. He was always there with quiet advice, a kind word, or simply his steady presence.
Family get-togethers were special because of John’s stories, his friendly warmth, and the simple happiness of everyone being together. Those moments created memories that his loved ones will hold dear forever. His deep and constant love for Norma, his children, and the whole family formed the heart of his life. Even now, in this time of grief, that love continues to surround and comfort them.
John was employed at Rist’s Wires and Cables in Newcastle-under-Lyme for thirty-five years. His supervisors and colleagues held him in high regard for his consistent dependability, talent, and diligence. He took great satisfaction in performing his duties effectively and was a key member of a corporation that gave many local residents jobs. The same care, attention, and dependability that characterized every aspect of his personality also characterized his approach to his work.
John lived a straightforward life guided by faith, a strong sense of right and wrong, and a genuine appreciation for family and the people around him. He found contentment in everyday routines—spending time with Norma, welcoming family visits, and feeling satisfied after a good day’s work.
In Knutton and nearby communities, people knew him as a true gentleman—honest, kind, and someone whose calm manner brought a sense of peace and reliability to those who knew him. On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 2:40 p.m., Bradwell Crematorium will host a funeral ceremony to honor John’s lengthy and well-lived life. We cordially encourage everyone of Rist’s family, friends, neighbors, former coworkers from Wires and Cables, and anybody else who knew and appreciated him to come.
