The community of Port Charlotte, Florida, and her former home of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, bid a peaceful farewell to a woman of great faith and vibrant spirit. Marjorie Ann Cozart, age 93, passed from this life on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Port Charlotte. Her journey was long and richly lived, marked by deep devotion to her family, enduring friendships, a successful career, and simple, joyful pleasures that defined her days.
Marjorie built a life of purpose and connection. For 25 years, she was a dedicated and successful real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Honig-Bell, helping countless clients find their homes. Her commitment to community was further shown through her lifelong membership in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and her steadfast faith as a member of the First Nazarene Church. Yet, her greatest accomplishments were found in her roles as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her personality was a delightful blend of devotion and delight. She was a woman who loved God deeply and found happiness in the small, beautiful details of life. She adored her beloved dog, Chloe, found refreshment in a diet coke, and relished trips to the beach and afternoons lounging by the pool. She never said no to a shopping trip or her favorite food, shrimp.
Marjorie also cherished the enduring bonds of friendship, leaving behind her dearest friends, Sharon Morelli and Penny Jaskoviak, and is also survived by her former spouse, Robert Cozart. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John L. Curtis and Robert E. Curtis.
To honor her remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home, located at 1314 Main Street in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. A Celebration of Life service will commence immediately following the visitation at the funeral home. A final interment will then be held at Oakwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
Marjorie Ann Cozart’s 93-year journey was a testament to a life well-lived—a blend of hard work, faithful service, and the unabashed enjoyment of God’s gifts. She has gone home to her Lord, leaving behind a family strengthened by her love, friends enriched by her loyalty, and a community that remembers her warmth.
