A domestic dispute at a home in Inman, South Carolina, escalated into a fatal shooting on Tuesday night, leading to murder charges against a 19-year-old man. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call just after 9:00 p.m. on February 3, 2026, following a report of an accidental shooting. The call, placed by the suspect’s own mother, brought deputies to the specific address of a residence on Farm Creek Road in the Inman area.
Upon arrival at the home, deputies found 21-year-old Skyy Ernestasjah Logan suffering from a critical gunshot wound. She was discovered on the front porch of the residence. Emergency services transported her immediately to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 10:00 p.m.. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office later confirmed her identity and ruled the cause of death as a gunshot injury.
The initial narrative provided to investigators was that the shooting was a tragic accident. They were informed that the victim was struck by a bullet negligently fired from a firearm being handled inside the home by 19-year-old Jayvion Nyrek Rice. Rice and Logan were in a relationship, and a domestic situation was occurring at the time of the shooting. However, as deputies processed the scene, they determined that the physical evidence did not align with this account of an accidental discharge.
Based on the inconsistencies between the evidence and the initial story, investigators began treating the incident as a homicide. Detailed information presented in court revealed the shooting was far from an accident; a projectile struck Logan one time in the neck and chest area, causing her to collapse. Following their investigation, deputies obtained arrest warrants for Rice, charging him with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

During the emotional proceeding, the state revealed that Logan’s three-year-old son was present in the home at the time of the shooting, sitting on a couch and calling out for his mother afterward.
