On Sunday, May 10, 2026, early in the morning, two males were shot and killed in northwest Charlotte, close to the Stockyard Restaurant on Rozzelles Ferry Road. The shooting happened on Rozzelles Ferry Road next to the Stockyard Restaurant.
Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the 4900 block around 3:54 a.m. after receiving a report of an assault involving a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they found 25-year-old Tionte Lamont Morrison and 34-year-old Keith Abraham Wallace suffering from life-threatening injuries.
MEDIC pronounced Morrison dead at the scene. Wallace was transported to a local hospital, where doctors later pronounced him deceased. The shooting took place in the parking lot area adjacent to the restaurant, which sits in the Freedom Division of the city. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as police cordoned off the area with crime scene tape and began collecting evidence.
CMPD’s Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Search, Operations Command, and Victim Services all responded to assist. Investigators have not released details about what led up to the shooting or whether the victims were targeted. No suspects have been publicly identified. Police have also not disclosed whether Morrison and Wallace knew each other prior to the incident.
The violence unfolded on Mother’s Day morning, shocking community members who live and work along Rozzelles Ferry Road. Residents have voiced concerns about safety in the corridor, which has experienced repeated incidents of gun violence in recent years. The deaths of Morrison and Wallace add to a troubling rise in homicides in Charlotte, where violent crime has been trending upward.
