His gentle spirit and reliable nature had become a familiar comfort to those around him, and the news of his departure has prompted many to reflect on the quiet ways he strengthened the bonds of home and community. Born on November 11, 1934, Wayne grew up with roots firmly planted in the Walkerton area, where everyday rural life and family traditions shaped a man known for his understated strength and warm approach to the world.
He shared a loving marriage with his beloved wife Eleanore, née Baird, building a home filled with the kind of everyday partnership that sustained them through the years. Together they raised four children—Mark with Cheryl Lyons, Larry with Debbie MacMillan, Catherine with George Bozzo, and Crystal with Colin Chambers—each of whom felt the steady support and affection he offered as a devoted father.
Wayne’s family circle extended with deep pride to his grandchildren Victoria Bozzo, Lauren Chambers, Bridget with Richard King, Danika Lyons with Wes Crandall, Patricia Lyons with Colin Parker, Brent MacMillan with Ashley, and Paul MacMillan with Krystal, as well as eleven great-grandchildren named Trent, Taylor, Willow, Riley, Bryce, Nixon, Kallen, Kensley, Kipton, Chantel, and Theo, all of whom brought him special joy in his later years. He is also remembered fondly by his sister Colleen Fiddes and brother Malcolm with Val Lyons, while he was predeceased by his sister Catherine with Robert Walker and brother-in-law John Fiddes.

Friends and relatives are invited to visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Cameron’s in Walkerton, followed by a service celebrating Wayne’s life at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church on 305 Colborne Street with Reverend Rob Hiscox officiating; a reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 102 on 505 Scott Street, with private family interment in the Walkerton Cemetery.
