A 32-year-old woman was killed in a devastating crash in Houston’s Midtown neighborhood late on the night of Sunday, February 1, 2026. Houston Police Department officers responded to the 2400 block of Pierce Street near Emancipation Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m., where they discovered a scene of significant destruction involving multiple vehicles. The victim was identified as Mykia Holcomb, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The driver of a blue Ford Expedition, identified as 27-year-old Enrique Acevedo Barocio, was traveling eastbound on Pierce Street at a high rate of speed. According to police, Barocio’s vehicle struck Mykia Holcomb as she was crossing the street after leaving a nearby club. The impact was severe, and authorities reported the vehicle carried her a distance down the roadway before colliding with several parked cars. In total, the Expedition struck five other vehicles that were parked along the street.
Barocio remained at the scene and was detained by officers who were working security at a nearby club. Investigators quickly noted signs of impairment, including poor balance and glossy eyes. During questioning, Barocio admitted to consuming four or five mixed tequila drinks prior to the crash, stating he had been at a different bar earlier in the evening. A warrant was obtained to draw his blood for further testing.
Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Enrique Acevedo Barocio was formally charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was booked into the Harris County Jail, where bond was later set at $250,000. Court records indicate Barocio also faces an immigration detainer, which affects his custody status.
