Roshanda Jones Death – Bakersfield woman died after hit‑and‑run on Feliz Drive

A 26‑year‑old woman identified as Roshanda Jones of Bakersfield died after a hit‑and‑run collision on April 21, 2026, in the 1500 block of Feliz Drive, west of Simpson Road, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office and Bakersfield Police Department. Officers were dispatched shortly after 9 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian struck in the roadway.

Police stated that Jones had been walking along Feliz Drive when she was hit by an unknown vehicle. Responding officers found her lying in the roadway with severe injuries before she was transported to Kern Medical for emergency treatment.

Jones was pronounced dead at approximately 10 p.m. at Kern Medical, according to coroner records. Authorities confirmed her identity shortly afterward and notified the public through official releases.

Investigators reported that the driver who struck Jones initially fled the scene, leaving her critically injured in the roadway. However, police later confirmed that the driver returned shortly after and cooperated with officers during the investigation.
