A domestic tragedy in a Sarasota gated community on Tuesday afternoon resulted in five deaths in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man involved as 61-year-old Anatoly “Tony” Ioffe, a licensed physician and owner of the home where the incident occurred.
The shooting took place at 4822 Fallcrest Circle within the Amberlea subdivision, a gated community near the intersection of Proctor Road and McIntosh Road in eastern Sarasota County. Deputies were dispatched to the residence at 12:24 p.m. after a neighbor’s 911 call and arrived on scene at 12:29 p.m., where they discovered multiple victims.
Investigators found Ioffe deceased on the street outside the home. Inside the residence, they located four additional family members who had been fatally shot. Officials have not publicly released the names of the other victims, as next-of-kin notifications were still pending at the time of initial reports. All individuals involved were pronounced deceased at the scene, and no survivors were found.
The incident triggered an extensive, multi-agency law enforcement response that lasted through the night. Specialized units including Crime Scene Investigators, Forensics teams, Victim Advocates, and an Unmanned Aircraft System were deployed to process the complex scene. As a precaution, authorities closed Proctor Road from McIntosh Road to Honore Avenue, established a large perimeter, and set up a command center at the nearby Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church.
Investigators recovered at least one weapon from the scene and noted there were no signs of forced entry at the home. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office stated the incident appears to be isolated and domestic in nature, emphasizing there is no ongoing threat to the public. Detectives are interviewing neighbors and reviewing potential surveillance footage, including from doorbell cameras, as they work to determine a motive.
The community was left in shock by the violence in the typically quiet Amberlea neighborhood. The case adds a complex dimension as Ioffe was a medical professional, the owner of ARGOMED GROUP LLC, known for treating patients with a broad range of illnesses. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the loss of multiple family members.
